What is a Podcast!?!

Podcasting is the evolution of Radio.

Simply put, a Podcast is a Radio Show by a different name.

 

So Why Not Call Them Radio Shows?!

Radio Broadcasts originally got their name based on the method of delivery; A Radio being the machine that captures and broadcasts the audio file that was created for you.

Well, Podcasts are the same. Originally, these Internet 'Radio' shows were downloaded and listened to on Apples iPods, hence the name, iPod-Broadcast or more simply, Podcast.

 

Okay, that Makes Sense, but How Does it Differ? How Does it Work?

Well, each Podcast show consists of a series of individual episodes, just like your favorite morning radio show that has one new episode every day!

The amazing part of Podcasting, is that it takes terrestrial Radio to a whole new level; offering conveniences that Radio stations only dream of offering to their listeners!

For instance, while Radio forces you to tune into your favorite stations and shows at a specific time each day to listen to what they think you want to hear, Podcasting works for you, and on your schedule. What do I mean by that?

The Podcast shows create their episodes and host them on the Internet allowing you to download them and listen to them at your convenience.

Not only that, you aren't locked into sitting down in front of the nearest Radio to listen to your favorite shows! Because a Podcast is recorded in a portable format, you can listen to them through your stereo, DVD player, computer, or load them onto your portable music player and take them with you wherever you go!

It just doesn't get any more convenient than that! In fact, Podcasting is the single most convenient and listener oriented media in existence - bar none! Radio, Television, Newspapers - everything else pales in comparison!

 

Who's Making these Podcast Shows? Are they any Good!?
