  More Government Podcasting News
Yesterday I mentioned that there was a U.S. Department of Commerce site which had started podcasting and that got me thinking. There is no way that the Department of Commerce would be the first to pick up new technology like this... I had already mentioned in a previous post that there were a few state politicians who had picked up Podcasting and the fact that the NYPD has launched their 'Safety Tips Podcast' is all over the Internet right now, so I figured that there must be more to this story.

So I did some more digging!

I found several gov. Podcasts before I came across the Free Government Information website. They have done a good job documenting all of the currently available Government Podcasts. So if you are a budding Pundit, you should check out this site.

Even the Presidents weekly address is being made available for download, so grab a sherry and settle in for a fireside chat...

Who Says Podcasting is Still New?!?
How do you measure the age of an industry?

Podcasting is Barely a year old; in most peoples books that means it is still relatively new.

But what if we don't use age as the yard stick by which we measure Podcasting.

Say for instance, we use acceptance. Podcasting has gone further in a year, than many technologies do in three or five. It is becoming more accepted by the mainstream every day. Surely this means that Podcasting is no longer 'new'.

Here's another for you...

I was browsing around for some information about the Katrina Aftermath and came across a U.S. Department of Commerce site -read Government Site- (The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration or NOAA).

This site is offering a Podcast to keep people updated on the goings-on in the disaster area. Yes, the U.S. Government (or at least a branch of it), has embraced Podcasting!

So, if you are new to Podcasting and think you are getting in on the edge of a new phenomenon...

Well, think again. Because if you are behind a government agency when jumping on board something... you are not on the cutting edge.

Ergo, I argue that Podcasting is no longer 'new tech' and has become well-established and well-accepted.

Long Live the Cast.

  Soapbox Pulpits
Podcasting has been invaded by pundits...

These new podcasts are ushering in the future of Living Room Politics; where every Tom, Jane, and Harry can sit down and listen to an informal conversation with their favorite politician.

Al Franken, John Edwards, and even ABC are offering political podcasts now-a-days. And if other politicians catch on to how often John Edwards cast is being downloaded, it will be only a matter of time before the voice of every political wanna-be can be found in an MP3.

The bright side of this? Well, you won't have to worry about CNN or other media outlets filtering through your political news before you get it... Now you will be able to get it directly from the ever-honest politicians.

The full story was published in the Baltimore Sun yesterday (the 11th) and is a good article if you are political groupie as well!

  Do you PsP?
For all those people who like to game on a tiny little screen (I am more of a giant flat screen kind of guy) and have a PSP, you can now download the new Sony PSP Firmware update V2.0.

Keep in mind that only the Japanese version of the update has been released so far... Officially I would suggest waiting for the official North American version release..... But a little birdy I know that has a PSP downloaded it and it works fine on her North American PSP. I am just saying is all...

The new update allows you to brows the web in real time over a wifi connection.

The cool thing (and the real reason I am even talking about it here) is that you can also download Podcasts from your Favorite Podcast Directory (yes, shameless self-plug)!!

So now you can take your games AND your music/podcasts with you where ever you go!

-- And there was much rejoicing --
